MorningSide Community Organization is a corporation organized and operated exclusively for charitable and educational purposes outlined in section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code. 

MorningSide will serve the community defined as the area bounded by and including Harper Avenue / I-94 on the north, bounded on the east to and including the west side of E. Outer Drive and the west side of Whittier, south to and including the north side of Mack Avenue, and west to and including the east side of Alter Road and E. Outer Drive in the city of Detroit, Michigan.

Specifically MorningSide is organized to: 

  1. Plan and work together in volunteer efforts to address community concerns, meet needs, and solve problems.
  2. Develop programs and activities to prevent the deterioration of the neighborhood, and promote a safe, healthful and attractive environment in which to live and raise a family.
  3. Educate and promote awareness in the community of beneficial programs and services offered by the federal, state and local governments and by the private sector.

The Board of Directors is organized to help identify the needs of the neighborhood, to set and prioritize goals that will meet those needs, and to make decisions about the direction MorningSide that will encourage participation of the residents in fulfilling the stated purpose of MorningSide.

Morningside committees are organized to provide the means by which residents can become involved and accomplish the specific goals and objectives of the organization.
